***************************************************************************** Subject: 2G/3G/4G/GPRS/UMTS USB Adapter Compatibility List Products: Secomea SiteManager xx29, 3129 TrustGate 62/160/260/460R Note: SiteManager 1039,3239,3439 have integrated 2G/3G and don't support additional USB/3G dongle. Last updated: 2014-11-14 (minor update) Firmware: TrustGate/SiteManager 13453/14115 ***************************************************************************** The Secomea 3G/GPRS enabled products are designed to operate with a wide variety of USB Adapters using Point to Point (PPP) protocol (QMI and MBIM is not supported). Although Secomea strives to implement as many drivers as possible, it is not possible to perform thorough verification tests on all of them. This list accumulates experience from Secomea's testing, or reporting by Secomea partners, and should not be seen as an approval of the adapter unless it is explicetly stated. Adapters not listed here can probably work just as well. Especially if they are just model variations within a brand for which drivers do exist. Note that in the following is refered to the Secomea "6 day test". This test just verifies that the adapter has been connected for minimum 6 days without problems. The stability of the adapter may, however, depend on the ISP and conditions of the signal. Some adapters seems to become unstable under poor signal conditions. The Secomea appliance therefore contains a "watchdog" that will automatically reboot the Secomea Appliance if the adapter does not respond on the USB port. This will reset the USB adapter and will typically make it run for another period. See the RDM FAQ on the Secomea site for more information on 3G/UMTS signal and connection issues. **************************************************************************** Nice to know: Firmware build 12031 and later: Status>Network page informaiton - is now more detailed about connection speed: Differentiate between 4G, 3G HSDPA, 3G HSUPA, 3G HSPA, and plain 3G. For consistency and brevity, use 2G/3G nomenclature rather than GPRS/UMTS. Auto APN - TrustGate and SiteManager will now automatically try an extended list of know APN's in case no APN has been configured. If an APN is configured both the configured APN and internal list of APNs will be tested. **************************************************************************** **************************************************************************** ADAPTER LIST **************************************************************************** Huawei E160G ----------------- Reports from partners says it is working with Secomea firmware build 14115 or later. Huawei E176 ----------------- reports from partners says it is working with Secomea firmware build 11122 or later. Huawei E180 ----------------- Passed Secomea 6 day test Periodic reboot by the Watchdog has been seen. This may be due to instability of the USB power. If you experence random reboot of the Secomea appliance you may solve it by connecting the adapter via an externally powered USB HUB Also be aware that Huawei tend to ship products with the same product name, and even identival product IDs, but based on different hardware. Huawei E182e ------------------ Experience that it hangs after 2-5 days. May be related to specific fabrication series of adapters. Huawei E220 ----------------- Passed Secomea 6 day test Supported by all firmware versions. Generally seems stable. Huawei E270 ----------------- Passed Secomea 6 day test Supported by all firmware versions. Generally seems stable. Huawei E1750 ------------------ Reports from partners says it is working with Secomea firmware build 10271 or later Huawei E1752 ------------------ Reports from partners says it is getting unstable within a couple of days. The symptom is that the appliance starts to reboot continuously. This is due to adapter being so hung-up that even the built-in watch-dog that tries to kick-start the adapter by rebooting the appliance, will not have effect. Huawei E1823 ------------------ Reports from partners says it is working.
